Steal My Crawl: Anna Bergman

Need ideas for your crawl? We asked some folks to share how they participated last year, or what they’d like to do this year. Take inspiration or copy them outright–we won’t tell!

Anna Bergman, author of Serial Subletter: A Musical Theater Memoir

Anna Bergman is a writer, photographer, and former performer. Born and raised in San Francisco, she spent many years as a theater actor in New York City before moving on to greener pastures.

Anna’s Crawl

As a library regular, bookstores are special occasions for me, and this special occasion is my very first bookstore crawl. I've explored the indie bookstores in and around Asbury Park, as well as Frenchtown Bookshop in Frenchtown and Labyrinth Books in Princeton, but there are so many New Jersey towns and bookstores I've yet to discover.

In my book crawl fantasy, I'm crawling with a friend, meeting new people, and although I adore my weathered postcard from Cafe Grumpy, I'm buying a new bookmark.

Anna’s shopping list

A favorite bookstores outside of NJ: I haven't been in a long time, but I saw some cool theater in the basement of the old Drama Book Shop in NYC, and I've been meaning to check out the new space.

A bookstore I’d like to visit: Bart’s Books in Ojai looks amazing.
